Roof Top Operations
With many miles of parkway traffic full of buses passing through Brick as well as the numerous school bus traffic through town, on October 8th and 9th, 2004, 11 members of the Brick Township Fire Service attended a class at the Brick Township Fire training Grounds on Bus Extrication. The class included an evening of classroom and a full day of hand-on’s activities. Various methods of extricating victims from buses were taught by instructors from the Dover Township Fire Academy. These methods included removal of walls from the sides and roof of buses as well as total roof removal of the buses. A wide variety of tools and equipment were utilized during this class, including Hurst hydraulic tools, saw-z-alls and assorted hand tools. Also various techniques of disabling the electrical controls of buses and the proper techniques for stabilizing these vehicles were discussed during the class.
Brielle Fire Company recently conducted a live fire training exercise at the Fire training Grounds. Search and Rescue and Hand Line Advancement techniques were practiced.
